Iceburgs in Antarctica.

Monsters of the Deep.

During my time down at Casey Station in Antarctica this season, i got to go out on a ‘burg cruise’ in the IRB’s. A trip on the boats to drive around some of the giants in the southern ocean. These iceburgs are huge from a distance and massive up close. They are big on top of the water and monsters under the surface. Some are grounded and dont move for years. Others float back and forth daily. Overall it was such a amazing experience i will never forget.

Here are some photos i got from my GoPro camera half underwater trying to show the size of them. The last is from the Canon showing what it looks like on top. Remember 10% on top 90% underneath.

The last two years.

Right. I have 63 photos to show you that haven’t made it onto this webpage yet. They are either forgotten images, they didn’t make the cut at the time or they have been put up elsewhere and never made it here. I will be dumping 10 or so images at a time untill i have the full 63 uploaded. This will give you a good flow of pictures for the week or whatever. I’ll try to give a title or description on each photo so you have an idea about it, or some backstory to ‘paint’ a better picture in your head. They are all from my time in North Western Australia over the Last two years. Mostly the Pilbara and a couple from Exmouth. Enjoy…

Double rainbow and other storm images.

More images from the lightning afternoon session the other day. It was also the first rain in the area for over 6 months.

Lightning on the Pilbara coast.

This shot was taken a couple of weeks ago. We had a lightning storm pass by on a sunday evening and almost every photog in town would have been out getting some shots. I took 9-10 shots and stacked them to get maximum strikes of lightning in one shot.

Roebourne Regional Prison Footy Team

A couple of months ago i spent a weekend taking photos of a Aussie Rules footy competition in Roebourne for the local paper. It was part of the NAIDOC festival, organised by the Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation. The teams were all local or from close towns. I shot all saturday and Sunday, but it wasn’t until part way through Sunday that i was informed that the guys in yellow with RRP written on their backs are from the prison. I was advised by one of the guards. He approached me and said that i shouldn’t take their photo for privacy reasons. By this time i had a few hundred shots. So stopped with them, and focused on other teams. It wasn’t a problem. I moved on.

I’ve wondered about uploading these images for a while, and can’t see a issue. But for their privacy, which i respect, i have blurred out any of their faces in these shots. What do you think? Did i need too? The paper ended up printing a spread of my images from the weekend but i didn’t submit the ones below as i feel they have a different story to what the paper needed.

They can’t sit in storage without being seen. This is the place for them. So, here you go.
