Adélie Penguins in Antarctica.

I have so many photos of Adélie Penguins it’s becoming a problem. I don’t have enough time to go through the Gigabites of photo files of these guys. They are comical on land, majestic in the water and sometimes fly through the air.

And yet, i can’t get enough of them.

Here are some photos of the Adélie Penguins, one photo of a Skua right after taking a Penguin egg and one of the egg after the meal.rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin8_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin7_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin6_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin5_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin4_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin3_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin2_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin1_jan15_webres rgatfield_eightythreephoto_penguin_jan15_webres

Four images from Antarctica.

I have taken many photos since being here at Casey Station this summer season, but not uploaded that often. Hoping to change that now i have a collection building up.

Here are a couple of selfies and a couple of a hike around the snow and ice.

I’m on Flickr

I’ve been a little inactive on Flickr lately, but i’m getting back into it and have started uploading more regularly.

Here is my latest image and if you click on it you’ll go my Flickr page where you can find more images.

Southern monster

Antarctica, again.

It’s happening again. I’ve made the trip down to Casey Station for another summer in Antarctica.

We flew down a few days ago on a government Airbus A319. From Hobart to Wilkins Aerodrome, 70 kms from Casey. Inside, it’s not your usual commercial airplane. Some seats are missing for more moving around room, the cockpit is open and you can go hang out with the pilots and 40 minutes from landing on the ice we put on our full survival gear ready to step out into -15c degree temperatures.

I made a few photos of inside the plane on our trip down. Antarctic_flight_NOV2014_webres5 Antarctic_flight_NOV2014_webres4 Antarctic_flight_NOV2014_webres3 Antarctic_flight_NOV2014_webres2 Antarctic_flight_NOV2014_webres1An

Flying over the beach in fog.

While i was up on the Northern Beaches in NSW recently i went to Avalon Beach early one morning to fly the DJI Phantom 2 and get some GoPro footage. It was completely foggy but it made for some different video. A bit scared of flying it over the ocean, but it worked out ok.

Chief Street Halloween Jam 2014

Adelaide had a reason to be afraid yet again this Halloween. This years pre City Dirt Jam was my first time going, and it was pretty much all the hype i’d heard and more. Much more. There was a few crazy things done on the bikes and everyone got a good ride in before the rain came after dark. That didn’t stop the party as everyone there had come in a Halloween spirit.

I’ll let the photographs do the talking…

Antarctica and Metallica

As it gets closer to me going down to Antarctica again for another summer, i am thinking about it more and more and i found this GoPro footage of when i left via plane taking off from the ice runway, ‘Wilkins Aerodrome’. I remember listening to Metallica as we were taking off and thinking it went well together, the vast landscapes we were leaving and the long instrumentals from one of my favourite bands.

Adelaide City Dirt Almost-Octoberfest Jam 2014.

For the second year in a row i went over to Adelaide for the Halloween weekend of BMX festivities. There was the Chief Street Halloween party jam on the Friday night, City Dirt’s ‘Almost-Octoberfest’ Jam on the Saturday and Nathan Parker’s Jam at his ‘Herm Trails’ spot north of the city. It was all time, action packed and fun as anything.

Here are a selection of my favorite photos from Saturday at City Dirt.

A big thanks to all the riders who killed it and showed us what it’s like to fly all weekend.
